New coach Adam Commens has made his first stamp on the Hockeyroos, selecting the first 10 athletes for AIS (Australian Insitute of Sport) scholarships.

A further 20 scholarships will be offered following a national training camp in late January 2011.

Up to 30 scholarships will be offered in total with the mix of athletes made up of approximately 24 senior athletes and a further six junior or ‘high potential athletes’.

These junior athletes will be selected based on their identified potential to rapidly develop into international players over the next two years and beyond.

The national training camp will run from January 17-23 in Perth and will give Commens his first opportunity to assess the players in person.

All members of the 2010 national senior and development squads will take part in the camp along with players from each state as selected by the states National Training Centre coaches.
